Letter from the Publisher
Dear Readers:
The summer is at full strength and so are we with this issue of Sea Isle Times. We’re jam-packed with entertaining and relevant stories and features.
You will be amazed when you read Dave Coskey’s story about Shari Davis, a 7-year-old who disappeared on her raft 51 years ago this month. It’s a fascinating story of courage, perseverance, and luck. Dave went back and spoke with many of the people involved a half-century ago. Then, Mary Byrne Lamb will take us from amazing to inspirational with a behind-the-scenes look at the work that Jason Kelce does here in Sea Isle City. Speaking of inspirational, in this issue Marybeth Hagan will help us learn about the Trinity Community Church as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.
Our special feature this month is She Shops. This is where we focus on local retailers who cater to women and girls. If you love to shop, man or woman, this is for you. And if after all of that shopping you’ve worked up an appetite, be sure to read Kelly McCarthy’s restaurant feature on Quincy’s Original Lobster Rolls.
Dave Bontempo continues his exclusive, outstanding coverage of the lifeguard racing season; no one does it better than Dave. And speaking of athletes, Joe LaRosa reminisces about what it was like to be an Ocean City High School athlete living in Sea Isle City in the 1960s and ’70s in The Long Way Home.
Marybeth Hagan catches up with our own financial guru Fred Dunbar for some uncommon sense along with all our other features that you’ve come to expect including the most comprehensive “where and when guide” to SIC with our Events at a Glance.
Enjoy the remainder of your summer. Take some time to relax and enjoy the beach, bay, and all that Sea Isle City has to offer because before you know it, we’ll be looking at Labor Day (yikes!). And once again, our thanks for taking time to read Sea Isle Times and making us the most popular publication in town.
Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Monica Coskey
