A BARBIE DELIMMA

What would Barbie do? Nearly 100 children were involved in the Sea Isle City Terrapin Rescue release on July 18. This little Barbie fan didn’t seem too convinced at first. But then, she reached out and happily released her turtle back into the wild. Barbie surely would be proud.

LOOK AT THOSE MASCOTS GO!

It’s a rite of summer in Sea Isle City … the annual Captain Thomas P. McCann Mascot Races that were held July 15 on the 44th Street beach. The races are the culmination of the Captain Thomas P. McCann Mascot School, in which the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol teaches girls and boys ages 4-8 about beach and water safety. They participated in drills, rode on lifeguard rescue surfboards, played games, and learned to work as a team. The third day features a footrace and surf dash, with the first three finishers in each age group receiving ribbons and everyone who participated all three days receiving a T-shirt. There were no losers. All winners. All smiles.
