Letter From the Publisher
Dear Readers,
Can we PLEASE slow this summer down? I’d swear that we were just editing our Spring issue, and here it is August. How does that happen? Our weather has been spectacular, and I want us all to enjoy the summer of 2024 as much as we can.
We have another informative and entertaining issue for you this month. Dave Bontempo has been especially busy: He’ll bring you up to speed on the successes of the beach patrol, remind you about beach safety – and give us an update on the merger of the Cape Regional Health System with Cooper University Health Care.
If you remember when the circus used to come to town – and even if you don’t – you’ll enjoy Dave Coskey’s look back on that time nearly a half-century ago. And speaking of looking back, Joe LaRosa has uncovered the role that our town played in the very historic Niagara Movement. If you are even a minor history buff, you’ll love Joe’s story.
Regardless, whether you had the opportunity to attend Jason Kelce’s Beach Bash or not, Mary Byrne Lamb will tell you all about this incredibly successful event that also included a number of Jason’s former Eagles teammates. We’ll add our congratulations to Kylie and Jason on another amazing event. Thanks for the positive spotlight that you shine on Sea Isle City.
Marybeth Treston Hagan tells us all about a life well-lived by Mary Haffert Anninos, and Dan McCann explains the impact that Mary Ellen Brennan McCann had on our community.
Plus, there are all the features you’ve come to expect in each issue – especially our Events at a Glance calendar. It’s the best way to get your month of August organized.
Thanks once again for making the Times the most popular publication in Sea Isle City. We appreciate you taking the time to read each issue. We also appreciate all the advertisers who make it possible for us to print each issue for you.
The next time that we speak, Labor Day will be upon us (Ugh!). Until then, let’s enjoy every day of this great summer.
Sincerely,
Monica Coskey
