Mildred’s Strathmere Restaurant, a longtime favorite of residents and visitors, was born of an Italian immigrant and seamstress named Mildred Conascenta.

When you take the spur off Sea Isle Boulevard just before the bridge into town, you take a step back in time. Each year there are so many great beach reads that come out just in time for summer, and this year was one of the best! There are so many titles that I wanted to read but haven’t gotten to yet, so I’m hoping to hold on to the endless summer sun for as long as possible.

It seems like just yesterday I was searching the island for everything you needed to get you through the summer. Now, just like that we are on to fall and everything is warm, cozy, pumpkin spice-smelling and tasting! Fall on the island is really what paradise is all about.

School is back in session and we hope you are excited and ready to take on the new year. This is a great time to remind you that reading doesn’t have to feel like homework. And so it goes, another summer season in the books. We’ve certainly enjoyed our share of sunny, steamy days, and it’s been glorious. But I’ll say what I say every year at this time: September is simply the best.
