STOCKTON UNIVERSITY
Abby Waid graduated from Stockton University with a degree in hospitality management. She is the daughter of Travis Waid and Melissa Doyle-Waid, pastor of the Sea Isle City United Methodist Church. While at Stockton, Abby was an event chair for the Tri Sigma sorority and assisted her sorority sisters in raising money for their philanthropy projects including children’s charities. She was Miss Cape Resort 2019 and competed in the Miss New Jersey pageant. Abby also opened Matt’s 18:20 Coffee House at the Sea Isle Methodist to give adolescents as drug/alcohol-free place to hang out. She worked as an intern for Devon & Pinkett Floral & Event Design, where she is still employed.
HIGH SCHOOL
MICAH WAID
OCEAN CITY HIGH SCHOOL
Micah Waid, the son of Sea Isle City United Methodist Church pastor Melissa Doyle-Waid and Travis Waid, graduated from Ocean City High School. He will attend Fordham University and plans to major in theater, technology and sound design. Micah was a member of the OCHS football, wrestling, and track and field teams. He also was the tech lead for the Drama Guild, and a member of the band and jazz band. He also served as a student leader for the youth group at St. Peter’s UMC and volunteers in the audio-visual ministry at Sea Isle Methodist.
GAGE BUCKNAM
SPRINGFIELD HIGH SCHOOL
Gage Bucknam graduated from Springfield (Pa.) High School and will attend West Chester University, where he plans to major in business/finance. He is the son of Jenifer and Randy Bucknam of Springfield, and grandson of Theresa and the late Dave Van Osten of Sea Isle City. Gage is among 15 grandchilden of the Van Ostens, who made Sea Isle City their year-round home in 1979. He enjoys spending his summers in Sea Isle, hanging out on the beach with his cousins, fishing, surfing, paddle boarding and playing basketball. This summer, he is working at Carmen’s Restaurant.
BRIAN FUREY
ST. AUGUSTINE PREP
Brian Furey, the son of Joe and Christine Furey of Strathmere, graduated from St. Augustine Preparatory School and will attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. A baseball catcher, he was recruited to play for Navy’s NCAA Division I program. He will report to the USNA for Plebe Summer in July. While at St. Augustine Prep, Brian helped his baseball team win consecutive South Jersey Cape Atlantic League championships, and also played basketball. He also was a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, and the school’s Ambassador Program. Brian attends St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Marmora and volunteers with its parish beach Masses in Strathmere. He also has done volunteer work for the Strathmere Fishing and Environmental Club kids’ fishing tournaments as well as the Vineland Veterans Home and the Camden Soup Kitchen.

BALA MIDDLE SCHOOL
Isabella Farina, the granddaughter of Sea Isle City residents Dee and David Farina, graduated from eighth grade at Bala Middle School. She will attend Lower Merion High School in the fall. She is the daughter of Bill and Diane Farina, of Bala Cynwyd and Wynnewood, Pa., and also the granddaughter of Walter and Marilyn Puchalski, of Warminister, Pa. Isabella was a member of the school choir and was on the cheerleading squad. She is looking forward to camp and spending time in Sea Isle City with her family this summer.
