REGAN CAPONE RAISES $14,000 FOR CHARITY

Regan Capone, a 12-year-old student at Ocean City Intermediate School, is a competitive horseback rider who trains at Pembrook Farm in Eldora, N.J. Each year, owner Eleanor Robinson hosts a horse show that benefits the Love of Linda Cancer Fund.

It seemed like the winter just took forever to end this year. While I spent a whole lot of time being the taxi driver for my kids, I was also fortunate enough to spend some time in front of the fireplace reading great new titles!

Until the turn of the millennium, those “in the know” about the sport of pickleball were limited to a fanatical core of players who had become consumed with the sport as a way of staying in shape and socializing around a quirky backyard game invented 60 years ago by a trio of dads looking to keep their kids busy.

Welcome back, friends! Spring is in the air, so my mood has significantly improved. I am a fair-weather girl, to be sure. It’s time to crack open the windows, let the fresh air in and hatch some good party plans for spring.

It was a cold and blustery afternoon. I was driving south through Absecon Island and passing through Margate. I was in a bit of a hurry, but something inside me told me that I should make the slight detour and drive past Memories, the legendary nightclub owned by Jerry Blavat that recently marked its 50th anniversary in “Maaar-gate, New Jersey.”

Food, fun and a 5K run … all in support of the return of the Mike’s Seafood Run/Walk for Autism over Presidents Day weekend in Sea Isle City after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. More than 4,000 people attended the event on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Excursion Park.

Spring is one of the greatest times of the year, especially when you are young and in love, when hope springs eternal. Young love can be one of the happiest times in your life, as well as your family’s. A young couple has been dating and finally gets engaged.

The forces behind the successful “Save Our Historic St. Joseph’s Church” movement are at it again. This time they saved a stunning painting now mounted in the midst of colorful stained-glass windows within the original St. Joseph Church in Sea Isle City.

Spring is a great time to refresh your living space. There’s just something about the weather changing, the sun shining, the ocean calling, that makes me want to open the windows, air the house out and buy some new things to spruce it up.

We spoke with Philadelphia sports media giants Ray Didinger and Howard Eskin, along with Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio, to hear their stories and reflections on Angelo Cataldi’s incredible broadcasting career.

GOOD COOKIN’ COMING TO ST. JOSEPH

The 1st Bank of Sea Isle made a $5,000 contribution in February to the St. Joseph Church kitchen renovation program that is expected to commence soon in the church’s auditorium.

Sometimes you get a storybook ending.

For months, listeners knew that Angelo Cataldi, the firebrand host of the SportsRadio 94WIP morning show would end his 33-year broadcasting career when the Eagles’ 2022 season ended.
