To many people, the thought of Sea Isle City conjures up visions of warm summer days frolicking in the surf, and evenings of leisure enjoying balmy weather at the shore. At the turn of the 20th century, it meant something totally different to scores of newly arrived Italian-Americans.

More than 2,100 participants and 3,000 spectators bundled up and gathered along the Sea Isle City Promenade on Valentine’s Day for the 18th Annual Mike’s Seafood Run/Walk for Autism, a day celebrating community, compassion, and record-breaking generosity.

Carol Thompson was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend – and also a cheerful bartender who greeted patrons with a friendly Irish smile.
