Faithful Rescue the Original St. Joseph’s Church from Demolition

Gone are the bright blue lawn signs that read “Save Our Historic St. Joseph’s Church,” posted all over Sea Isle City and occasionally offshore for the past few years.

Forces behind the Save Our Historic St. Joseph’s movement succeeded in rescuing this Catholic house of worship that dates back to 1884 from the wrecking ball.

Summer nights are dwindling down, but that’s no reason to be sad because fall at the beach is amazing! There is so much to do, with a ton of events around town and, of course, all of your favorite restaurants and stores are still open for business.

Fall is a time for new beginnings. The kids are headed back to school, it’s cooling down at the beach, and it’s time to get back on a schedule and in a routine. It’s also a great time to shop!

Champs Crowned in Boys’ Hoops

The Orange team won the championship game in the Sea Isle City Summer Senior Boys’ Basketball League, 49-41, over the Green team on Aug. 13. A total of six teams played in the league sponsored by the Sea Isle City Recreation Department, and the title game was closer than the score would indicate.

Two forms of accomplishment – one constant and one rare – marked significant 2021 seasons for the Sea Isle City and Upper Township beach patrols.

The constant was Upper Township raising nearly $4,000 for MS research with its annual Six-Mile Bay Race in July.

This summer was full of many new book releases. Actually, there were so many books I wanted to read that I didn’t get to half of the ones on my ever-growing list. The fall is the perfect time to grab a good book and sit on the beach.

Sea Isle City has a long history of active veterans working to make Sea Isle City a great community. As summer turns to fall, Veterans Day is not too far away and it is a great time to remember a group of veterans who made Sea Isle City a much better place.

4 Generations of Boyles Celebrate 50-Year Tradition

This family reunion went the extra mile.

It linked four generations, decades of nostalgia, and a Sea Isle City stage. A grand depiction of the Philly-Jersey Shore summer connection took place on water, in the kitchen, and throughout neighboring homes being rented in late July and early August.

While you might be getting ready to pack away your swimwear, tank tops and flip-flops for the season, you may want to hold that thought because Sea Isle City has a fun fall planned with plenty of live entertainment, special events and more to enjoy.

September? Seriously? How can that possibly be? I’d swear it was just Memorial Day weekend – wasn’t it? Where did summer go? I guess that just proves that time really does fly when you’re having fun.

Procrastination. Many people are guilty of it – some for their entire lives. When you were young, maybe you didn’t do your homework, or perhaps you didn’t study for the next day’s test, since it was going to snow … but then it didn’t.

What to Expect From the 2021 Hurricane Season

Tropical Storm Isaias spawned two tornadoes in South Jersey last August. Early this July, Tropical Storm Elsa had us “frozen” in the middle of the night when two more twisters dropped out of the clouds and touched down along the Jersey Shore.

How is it that September is upon us and I have yet to have a crab feast for one more round of outdoor entertaining in the late summer sun?

Fortunately, crabs don’t finish their summer season on Labor Day because our summer cannot officially end without an afternoon of sitting around a newspaper-lined table piled with well-seasoned Number Ones.
