Independence Day Concert with The Patriot Brass Ensemble

Phillies Home Run Derby

Do you think you have what it takes to be the next Bryce Harper? Head over to Dealy Field on July 8 to play like the pros during the Phillies Home Run Derby. Open to boys and girls ages 7 to 12, registration will take place prior to the Derby at 11am. Each winner will receive a plaque and will advance to the next level of competition for a chance to play in the finals at Citizens Bank Park later in the year. The event is free, and no preregistration is required.

Captain Thomas P. McCann Mascot School

Open to boys and girls ages 4 through 8, mascot school features two days of fun for the kids. Hosted by the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol, mascots will learn beach and water safety while also participating in races and games. There is an $8 registration fee and forms can be downloaded from the beach patrol website.

July 11
Sea Isle City Beach Patrol 100th Anniversary Celebration
The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol is starting the celebration of its centennial with several events planned throughout the day. At 8am, St. Joseph Church will host at mass to honor all deceased lifeguards. At 10:45am, past and present lifeguards will participate in a parade along the Promenade, followed by a ceremony at 11:15am at 43rd Street. The ceremony will include remarks from dignitaries, a gun salute, bagpipes and a ceremonious row-out to set flowers adrift in memory of deceased beach patrol members. Following the parade and ceremony, the beach patrol will hold an open house from 1-5pm.

Beach Classic Men’s Street Hockey Tournament

Sea Isle City Beach Patrol 100th Anniversary Celebration
The celebration of the SICBP’s centennial continues Saturday, July 13 with another day of events. At 10am, head over to the Sea Isle City Historical Museum as former captains Mike McHale and Bill Gallagher present a brief history of the beach patrol. From 1-5pm, the general public is invited to the SICBP Headquarters for an open house where they can view equipment, awards and pictures from past decades. There will be a paddle-out wreath ceremony at the 44th Street beach at 3pm, where current members of the SICBP will honor deceased lifeguards with lifeguard boats, paddle boards and WaveRunners. To cap off the day, the Alumni Association will host its annual dinner to induct its newest Hall of Fame members.

Ruggerfest

Hosted by the Blackthorn RFC, registered USA Rugby players 18 and older are invited to play in the ultimate friendly competition. There is no cost to participate, however a $10 donation fee is suggested. Games are played for about 20 minutes and teams are chosen at the field. Throughout the day, Blackthorn youth teams will also play a few rounds of flag rugby.

This longstanding beach tradition is now in its 40th year. Following Mascot School (July 10-11), kids ages 4-8 will participate in a series of races such as sprinting and relays under the supervision of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol as they take the skills learned in school and apply them to the friendly races that teach good sportsmanship.

Baby Parade

Smiles, giggles and maybe even a little drool … You won’t want to miss all the adorable antics of the Sea Isle City Baby Parade. Decked to the nines in creative costumes with colorful floats and décor, families and children from infants to 10-year-olds will parade down the Promenade from 34th to 44th Street. Judging will take place before the start of the parade and prizes will be awarded at JFK Boulevard & Promenade.

Full Moon Beach Yoga

Grab a beach towel or your yoga mat and head over to the 29th Street beach for Full Moon Beach Yoga. All ages and levels are invited to join certified instructor Teri O’Connor for beach yoga flow, moon salutations and full moon meditation as you watch the moon rise over the ocean. There is no need to sign up ahead of time, just sign in when you arrive.

The event is timed and tracked by CompuScore Computer Systems and is a friendly and competitive way for athletes to test their ocean swimming skills. Junior Lifeguard Program

Are you thinking about joining the 100-year tradition of the SICBP? Prospective beach patrol participants will learn basic lifesaving skills and rescue techniques through educational and physical training. Open to men and women ages 14-17, the Junior Lifeguard Program will begin July 23 and take place each Tuesday and Thursday through Aug. 8. The cost to participate is $25 and application forms are available online at sicbp.com. Enrollment is limited to the first 40 applicants.

Sandy Sprint Sea Isle City 5K Run/Family Walk

Join the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation for the Sandy Sprint Sea Isle City 5K Run/Family Walk on July 27. The event raises funds and awareness for advanced research of ovarian cancer and features a 5K run through scenic Sea Isle and a family walk on the Promenade. Shore Softball Classic

Sponsored by Philadelphia Sports Leagues, men and women ages 18 and older are invited to participate in this friendly softball tournament. The summer tournament draws about 20 teams each year from the tri-state area for a day of fun on the field. Free Skin Cancer Screening

As part of a statewide initiative, the Cape Atlantic Coalition will provide free skin cancer screenings with a team of licensed dermatologists and nurses. Participants can get a screening and talk with the professionals about skin cancer. Results are provided on the spot and all attendees will receive complimentary sunscreen.
