RE/MAX Preferred owner Randel Jones moved into the former office space of RE/MAX Beach Home Realty in October, giving his company its sixth South Jersey location. Beach Home Realty had been owned by Bill and Nancy Buchanan for more than 15 years.

“We chose this location because of the great traffic near the downtown area,” says Mark Hebert, broker-manager of the Sea Isle City office. “Our experienced agents are experts in real estate transaction and cover all areas between the shore and Philadelphia to assist clients with smooth transactions over the largest geography in the area.”

Several of the agents who worked in the Beach Home Realty office, including the Buchanans, remain in the RE/MAX Preferred office. The company is composed of more than 140 agents, with 15 active agents based in the Sea Isle City office. Whether you are looking for a vacation rental, buying a new home or selling one, the team at RE/MAX Preferred is ready to assist you.

The office is currently open by appointment only but will be reopening to the public soon, following CDC guidelines. If you would like to schedule an appointment, check out the website and list of agents available at remaxseaislecity.com.

Topsail Steamer offers customizable to-go steamer seafood pots for its customers to take home and enjoy with little prep work.

The business owner, Danielle Mahon, moved from New Jersey to North Carolina in 2003. But when she founded her business in 2017, she knew she eventually wanted to expand up the coast to the Jersey Shore.

She has certainly done that, with Topsail Steamer’s newest location set to open in the heart of Sea Isle City this summer. She opened her first store in Topsail, N.C., but has since expanded to another North Carolina location as well as three in New Jersey, including the Sea Isle storefront.

Mahon also recently partnered with Goldbelly to ship their steamer pots nationwide.

“We’re really looking forward to having a third store at the Jersey Shore because we absolutely love it there,” Mahon says. “Last summer, the Ocean City store opened up in May, and it became our No. 1 store. New Jersey welcomed us with open arms.”

Mahon says her dad’s entrepreneurial spirit was what inspired her to completely shift careers from working with laboratory tools to owning a restaurant. She now works with her two kids and her brother-in-law, who owns one of the New Jersey locations, to create a unique experience for her customers.

“What we provide is an experience to our customer that brings so much joy,” she says. “My goal is to provide each customer quality in terms of our food, the convenience of having a full meal for up to 10 or 15 people with really no prep, and also equally important is the experience that we provide them, and that’s the fun part.”

The Sea Isle location of Topsail Steamer is projected to open its doors by Memorial Day. In the meantime, visit the Ocean City location for a fresh steamer pot.

A new men’s clothing store is coming to the Promenade in Sea Isle City later this spring. Jared Gaburo, the owner of the Seaside Shade Shack, will be opening a second business venture: Tortuga Men’s Shop, located right next door to The Shack.

“When the space became available, I knew I needed to jump on getting the space,” says Gaburo. “Tortuga is a direct response to my customers asking for menswear, and while I’ve always enjoyed a quality shopping experience, my hope is that the customers will be just as excited and as passionate about this new and unique shop. After all, it is because of them that I am able to bring this experience to SIC, one of my favorite places in the world. Our grand opening is scheduled for early May and we will post more details on our social media, so be sure to follow us to stay up to date.”

Before purchasing Seaside Shade Shack in 2018 from Steve and Shari Massini, Gaburo had been a longtime employee at the store. Seaside Shade Shack will celebrate its 13th season in business this May, and Gaburo felt this was the perfect time to open Tortuga.

“The previous owners of The Shack were incredible bosses that really showed me everything I needed to know to make the business a continued success, and I am fortunate to be able to expand upon that success in this new venture with Tortuga,” Gaburo says. “I never really had a dream of being a small-business owner, and I know it sounds clichè but now I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”

Tortuga Men’s Shop will offer a curated collection of premium menswear for every occasion. All of the attire will cater to everyone from the Delco dudes to the beasts of the Northeast, and every shoobie, beach bum, and good guy in between.

For more information, check out Tortuga Men’s Shop on Facebook and Instagram, and stay tuned for the grand opening in May.
