The For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation began with young love. Charitable love keeps events – like FPS’s 5th Annual Buttoned-Up BBQ benefit in Stone Harbor – going. Steadfast love from supporters, partners, staffers, volunteers and others keeps FPS growing.

Sometimes you can look at someone and you just know what he does for a living. For Mike Boyle, he remembers a time when people would look at him from across the room and say, “You should be an actor.”

The Sea Isle City and Upper Township beach patrols both enjoyed a dynamic start to their season, from different directions.

Walking along the shoreline and collecting shells and sea glass is a special kind of treasure hunt. Each collected piece is infused with memory, history, and weathered beauty.

“All Summer Long,” a monster hit for Kid Rock in 2008, also could be used to describe the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2019.

Maryellen Curran married Nicholas Miraglilo on Nov. 16 in Sea Isle City. Maryellen is the daughter of Grace and Lawrence J. Curran Jr., of Sea Isle, and Nicholas is the son of Nicholas and Maryanne Miraglilo, of Somers Point.

The dog days of summer have arrived and while we’re not packing away our beach chairs any time soon, we are looking forward to cooling off with some delicious treats! We all know Sea Isle City is home to some of the best in food, dining and sweet treats among other businesses, and with the addition of this new business in town, the options for your taste buds are endless.

As I sit down to write this article, we are celebrating our nation’s 243rd birthday. I am so thankful to live in the greatest country in the world. Amazingly, America has just entered the longest economic expansion in U.S. history, now at 121 months.

The members of Team Sea Isle, consisting of Mayor Leonard Desiderio and Councilmen Bill Kehner Sr. and Frank Edwardi Jr., were officially sworn in for another four-year term during the city’s reorganization meeting July 1.
