We receive lots of letters from readers and appreciate all of them. This letter has special meaning. It was written by Fred Ellinwood, the USCG rescue swimmer mentioned in the story “A Raft of Memories” from August.

It’s hard to believe that the summer of 2023 is coming to an end. Now it’s time to swap out your flip-flops for Uggs and your beach bag for a backpack. The nice thing about fall on the island is that there are still plenty of days where it feels like summer outside, and we promise it’s much easier now to find a parking spot!

The best thing about the autumn season is the autumn fashion! With help from Sunsations, we pulled together a look that will have you ready to frolic in the yellow leaves of the new season.
