Finn Brooks Sullivan, the son of Shawn Sullivan and Kim Brooks of Collingswood, graduated from Collingswood Middle School as a member of the National Junior Honor Society. During middle school, Finn participated in theater, ran cross country, sang in the choir, played cello in the orchestra and was a member of the honors orchestra.

After the beaches open and the ocean waters warm, the first true indicator that summer is truly underway is the beginning of the lifeguard racing season. Since the late-1940s, one of the most important races of the year for our local patrols is the Tri-Resort Lifeguard Championships.

DALRYMPLE, POTTER GET ENGAGED

Katie Dalrymple and Matt Potter became engaged at Waterfront Park Pier in Charleston, S.C., while on vacation in April. Katie is the daughter of Barbara and Charles Dalrymple of Sea Isle City, and Matt is the son of Don and Tracy Potter of Ocean City.

TOURISM COMMERCIAL A WINNER

What do the Sea Isle City Tourism Commission and actress Jennifer Garner have in common? They both were Silver Award winners in the 42nd annual Telly Awards. While Garner was recognized for a cooking demonstration program she produced, Sea Ise City was honored for its 2021 tourism commercial, “Reconnect in Sea Isle City.”

A night out on the town has never sounded sweeter than it does this summer. Everything is open and business has been booming! July is sure to be an epic month here in Sea Isle City. There are plenty of places to go if you are heading out on the town. Whether it’s a fancy dinner date or happy hour right after the beach, we’ve got you covered.

The festivities will get underway on Saturday, July 3, with a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute concert at 7:30pm by Lights Out at Excursion Park. Come out with your family to enjoy the music!

One of the greatest things about summer is that all of my favorite authors release new books. Avid book readers have favorite authors, and we wait months looking forward to the release of their latest novels. The summer of 2021 is shaping up to be a great summer for reading.

The entire fleet of the Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Department, Mayor Leonard Desiderio, City Council, family and friends gathered for a parade in front of former Fire Chief Frank Edwardi’s home on June 16. The parade was to honor Edwardi and his nearly 50 years of dedicated service to the department, including serving as chief from 2011 until his retirement in 2020.

Happy Summer! I don’t know about you, but July has always been my favorite month of the year. The days are long and gorgeous – and is there any better place to be than on the Sea Isle City beach on a sun-drenched July afternoon? Everything is open and the town is just at it best.

Ah, the good old days. Every generation seems to refer to them as it grows old. Will the millennials, born from 1981 to 1996, or Generation Z, born after 1996, be saying the same thing years from now? Only time will tell.

Two Vietnam veterans have authored a seamless changing of the guard.

Mark Lloyd becomes the new commander of Sea Isle City’s VFW Post 1963 and Charles “Chick” Haines, the commander for the last 16 years, moves to a county-wide post.

OK, so “Greetings from Sea Isle!” isn’t quite as famous as the postcard album cover on Bruce Springsteen’s “Greetings from Asbury Park,” but both postcards serve the same purpose: to send a message from point A (Sea Isle City) to point B (Anywhere, USA) for a mere 35 cents.

Summer is finally upon us! A new season is the perfect time to shop your little heart out. Now that everything is open, if you haven’t gotten yourself and your beach home ready, it’s never too late to start. There are plenty of amazing stores close by carrying everything you need this summer, on and off of the beach. Here are some of our favorites!

Movies are, among other things, effective time machines, taking us here and there, to and fro, and back and forth. They remind us of where we were and what we did back in the day, or what we were doing when they, the movies, sprung upon us.

Of course, songs and photos can theoretically do the same thing, right?

The Sea Isle City that is so popular today is the result of the individuals and families who cast the foundation for the city of today. They came from all over the world, literally, and all walks of life. Some vacationed here while others made it their home. But they all shared one common thread: a love for Sea Isle City. Some even gambled on the business climate.

We all scream for it. Julius Caesar sent his servants to the mountains for snow to flavor with fruit juices. Marco Polo brought recipes for “cream ice” from the Far East back to Italy. But it was not until after the American Revolution that we Americans got on board. We began to enjoy the treat we know today as ice cream and it is here to stay.

Did you ever wonder how they came up with the people on all of those postcards back in the 1960s and ’70s? We did, so we decided to find out with an especially cute postcard of a 10-year-old girl holding a blue claw crab. The back simply states “Crabbing in Sea Isle City, N.J.” So, who is that little girl?
